No bond reduction
in Wauconda stabbing

WOODSTOCK – A Wauconda man accused in the stabbing of another man four times outside an Island Lake bar remained in the McHenry County Jail on Thursday after a judge declined to reduce his bail.

Rolando R. Aguilar, 23, of 302 E. Liberty St., was charged with aggravated battery in the incident Sunday outside Sideouts Bar and Eatery at 4018 Roberts Road.

According to the criminal complaint, Aguilar stabbed Jaime A. Bautista-Briseno on the left top side of the head, left shoulder, left side and left waist.

Aguilar’s bond was set at $30,000. Judge Joseph Condon refused to lower it, saying that the amount was reasonable for someone with no criminal history.

Prosecutors said Aguilar was arrested three times last year for traffic-related offenses and is on probation.

The bond is “more than appropriate,” Assistant State’s Attorney David Metnick said.

Aguilar’s next court date is Oct. 31.
