Registration for Helping Paws ‘fun run’ nears

CRYSTAL LAKE – Registration for the sixth annual Panting for Paws Fun Run and 5K is approaching.

The event will benefit Helping Paws Animal Shelter in Woodstock.

The one-mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Nov. 4 at Lippold Park in Crystal Lake.

Registration for the 5K is $25 before Monday and $30 after that. The fee for the fun run is $15, regardless of registration date.

Long-sleeve T-shirts will be given to participants registered by the deadline, and to those who register after Monday, while supplies

Race packets can be picked up from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at Helping Paws or from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Lippold Park on the day of the race.

The races are on a flat and scenic path of crushed limestone and will start and end near the baseball pavilion in the northeast section of the park.

After the race, awards will be presented at the pavilion to the overall top male and female finisher and the top three in each age group.

No pets will be allowed on the race paths, but pets are welcome at the park provided they are on a leash and are current on vaccines.
