Carpentersville fire department plans open house, ceremony

CARPENTERSVILLE – The Carpentersville Fire Protection District invites residents to help firefighters place a new fire engine and ambulance into service Oct. 20.

An open house will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Fire Station 3, 5000 Sleepy Hollow Road, Carpentersville. A ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m.

When firefighters used horse-drawn wagons, they would unhitch the horses after a call and and push the wagons back into the station after fire calls.

As a symbolic event, the Carpentersville Fire Department is inviting residents to "push" the new fire engine and ambulance into the station, officially putting them into service.

There will be light refreshments and station tours available.

For information, call 847-426-2131.
