Carpentersville fire department plans open house, ceremony

CARPENTERSVILLE – The Carpentersville Fire Protection District invites residents to help firefighters place a new fire engine and ambulance into service Oct. 20.

An open house will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Fire Station 3, 5000 Sleepy Hollow Road, Carpentersville. A ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m.

When firefighters used horse-drawn wagons, they would unhitch the horses after a call and and push the wagons back into the station after fire calls.
