District 26 Senate: Duffy

There is so much serious work to do in Illinois, it’s essential that voters send the strongest candidates to the Legislature whether incumbent or otherwise.

Dan Duffy, R-Lake Barrington, has been a strong voice in Springfield during his first term as state senator of the 26th District. We endorse him for another term.

The 46-year-old computer consulting business owner brings the needed perspective of a small business owner to the Legislature. He has demonstrated in words and deeds that he is frustrated with the same things that frustrate most residents about state government.

Duffy favors aggressive pension reform starting with legislators themselves. While a drop in the bucket compared with the state’s $83 billion pension liability for public employees, it sets the right tone. He also is co-sponsor of a bill to repeal Illinois’ 67-percent income tax hike.

Duffy is opposed by Lake Zurich-area Democrat Amanda Howland, an attorney and former school administrator with an impressive background.

While we appreciate Howland’s qualifications, Duffy has been a strong legislator who should get another opportunity to shake things up in Springfield.
