Ex-inmate held in death of Illinois doctor
KANKAKEE (AP) — Kankakee police say they are holding a suspect in the stabbing death of an 81-year-old doctor and the wounding of his wife.
Dr. James Goldenstein was found dead early Friday in his home. His 81-year-old wife, Betty, is reported in stable condition in Riverside Medical Center.
Kankakee Police Chief Larry Regnier said 35-year-old Phillip Horrell is being held on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder pending the filing of formal charges. Investigators did not provide a motive for the attack.
