Wolves live up to big-play potential
McHENRY – For weeks now, the same kind of big plays Prairie Ridge had seemingly sacrificed on a regular basis also had managed to somehow elude the Wolves.
But that all changed Friday, when the Wolves – well out of the playoff picture a year removed from its Class 6A state championship – finally reversed the trend.
The first big play – a Matt Perhats interception in the end zone in the final seconds of the first half – kept McHenry from gaining momentum. The rest – which came during a 27-point third quarter – allowed the Wolves to pull away in a 41-7 FVC Valley victory at McCracken Field.
