Missing Volo woman,
two children found safe

VOLO – A woman and her two children who were reported missing Wednesday were located Sunday evening and are safe, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Aneta Marsek, 33, was found with her 2-year-old daughter Chevelle and 4-month-old daughter Macenzie “unharmed and vacationing in the [Wisconsin] Dells,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

They were reported missing by Marsek’s estranged husband, Dan Marsek.

Aneta Marsek was last seen with her two daughters on Oct. 6.

They were last seen leaving her parents’ house in Wauconda, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s news release.

Law enforcement did a grid search of 12 square miles looking for Marsek, Lake County Chief Deputy Wayne Hunter said.

The search continued over the weekend as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office searched the Chain O’ Lakes, according the sheriff’s office investigations division.

During the search, the Fox Lake Fire Department dive team checked the retention ponds in the area of Aneta Marsek’s house. The Law Enforcement Aviation Coalition and the Illinois State Police also conducted aerial searches, according to a previous news release.

Hunter said the case is still under investigation, and he did not have an estimate Sunday night on how much the search cost.

Hunter said he had no other details, and wasn’t sure when Aneta Marsek would be coming back to the area.
