McHenry acquires Dobyns House site
McHENRY – City officials on Monday approved the $580,000 purchase of a riverfront property considered a key piece for
the city’s downtown redevelopment.
Its move of $580,000 from the general fund to the capital improvements fund was unanimous and covers the purchase of the 2.62-acre Dobyns House property from the Charles J. Miller family trust, closing costs and cleanup of the site.
The property at 1202 N. Riverside Drive sits in a tax increment financing district, whose funds next budget year will begin reimbursing the general fund for Monday’s purchase, according to a city memo.
