Prosecutors request new judge for felony cases
WOODSTOCK – The judge who launched the prosecution of McHenry County State’s Attorney Louis Bianchi moved into a felony courtroom Monday and was greeted with about two dozen requests from prosecutors to move cases to a different judge.
It’s not uncommon for defense attorneys to request a substitution of judge, if only because they have the right to do so. But it is a rare move for a prosecutor.
The motions for a judge other than Gordon Graham were signed by State’s Attorney’s Office Criminal Division Chief Michael Combs.
