Stop power grab
To the Editor:
Over the past four years, there has been a backlash in this country against the expansion of government and the abuse of power that comes with it. Although intended to better serve the people, government expansion usually brings unintended consequences at the expense of the citizenry, and inflicts another layer of bureaucracy. This, in my view, is precisely what will happen if the referendum on the November ballot for creating a county executive form of government would pass.
The county executive form of government gives unprecedented powers to one person and creates another layer of authority when there already is too much government. There would be an added cost to taxpayers.
