Vehicle strikes building in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE – A Fox River Grove man was taken to the hospital Monday with non-life threatening injuries after the vehicle he was driving struck a building on Route 14, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The Honda Civic was traveling west on Route 14 at around 1 p.m. when it left the roadway to the north, jumped the parkway, and struck a vacant building, according to a news release. A portion of the building located on the 6500 block of Northwest Highway is home to Julie Ann’s Frozen Custard.

The 25-year-old driver was later transported to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock for evaluation and treatment of injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the incident, the release states. There were no other injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
