Bears cut former first-round OT Williams
If you haven’t done so already, mark down another Bears first-round bust.
The Bears released offensive tackle Chris Williams on Tuesday in a move that punctuated five years of disappointment and unrealized expectations. To fill Williams’ roster spot, the Bears re-signed veteran cornerback Zackary Bowman.
Although the Bears waited until after Week 6 to release Williams, his fate was decided once the team removed him from the active roster Oct. 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. He spent the next two games in street clothes while veteran tackle Jonathan Scott took his place as a backup swing tackle.
