On Oct. 12, Lake in the Hills Elementary met its fundraising goal of $700 to donate to the Heavenly Hats Organization.

Staff and students paid $1 to wear a hat to school and then celebrated with a “hat parade.”

Because the school met its goal, three staff members at the school had their heads shaved.

Heavenly Hats is a non-profit organization started by a 14-year-old boy, which raises money to buy hats for cancer patients undergoing treatments. This is the third year that Lake in the Hills Elementary has raised money for the Heavenly Hats organization. Each year the school exceeded its fundraising goal.

When the Principal Tammy Poole asked how many people knew someone affected by cancer, nearly every student and staff member gathered outside raised their hand.
