Five candidates – four Republicans and one Democrat – are seeking four seats in McHenry County Board District 4, which covers the northeastern portion of the county including the city of McHenry and village of Richmond.

McHenry Republican Sandra Salgado, director of human resources for Pioneer Center for Human Services, is a capable incumbent who has a clear grasp of the many facets of county government and the best interests of her constituency at heart.

Salgado does not support increasing the tax levy and is open to creative solutions to cutting county spending, such as outsourcing some services. She also supports a direct election for County Board chairman by voters, although she is not in favor of the referendum to change to an executive form of government as proposed on the November ballot.
