Partnerships to help control Ill. Medicaid costs
CHICAGO — Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn plans to announce six partnerships aimed at controlling health costs by eliminating unneeded care for to up to 6,000 Medicaid recipients.
The collaborations to be announced Tuesday will help Illinois comply with a 2011 state law requiring that at least 50 percent of Illinois Medicaid recipients be moved into managed care by 2015.
The project is aimed at the costliest patients for Medicaid — the elderly and disabled.
