Partnerships to help control Ill. Medicaid costs
CHICAGO – Gov. Pat Quinn has announced six partnerships aimed at controlling health spending by eliminating unneeded care for high-cost Medicaid clients.
The collaborations announced Tuesday will help Illinois comply with a state law requiring that at least half of Illinois Medicaid recipients be moved into managed care by 2015.
One Chicago project focuses on people with severe mental illnesses and includes a for-profit nursing home group working with several nonprofit organizations. A nonprofit on Chicago's South Side will lead another partnership.
