Cary puts more bite in pet ordinance

CARY – Violate the village’s animal control ordinance and you’re now looking at a minimum $75 fine.

The Village Board this week adopted its updated animal control ordinance in the hope it will encourage more responsible pet ownership.

In the ordinance, the village specified that no person is allowed to be cruel or abuse animals, abandon an animal where it may “become a public charge or may suffer injury, hunger or exposure” or keep animals in unclean or unsanitary environments.
