D-300, union talks produce little progress

ALGONQUIN – District 300 and its teachers union met for nearly five hours Tuesday evening to negotiate a new contract, but the session produced little progress.

The district's bargaining team and LEAD 300 leaders met without a mediator shortly after 4:30 p.m. at Westfield Community School in Algonquin, two days after LEAD members granted the authority to strike.

The lengthy bargaining session produced various counter offers from the board that made strides in addressing some union demands but fell short of meeting other demands, LEAD 300 President Kolleen Hanetho said.
