Mercy wants judge to review Crystal Lake hospital proposal
CRYSTAL LAKE – Mercy Health System has asked for an administrative judge to look again at the state's Health Facilities and Services Review Board rejection of its plans for a new Crystal Lake hospital.
A hearing is the first step in an Mercy's appeals process to reverse the Review Board's denial of a $115 million, 70-bed hospital proposed for Three Oaks Road and Route 31. The state board rejected the project in September.
"There are a number of appeal steps that could be taken if somebody is unhappy with the decisions of the board – like Mercy is," said the Review Board attorney Frank Urso.
The hearing is set for Oct. 25 in front of Springfield administrative law judge Richard Hart.
