Fired Harvard officer pleads
not guilty in forgery

WOODSTOCK – A fired Harvard police officer pleaded not guilty Friday to forgery and official misconduct charges.

Philip Held, an 11-year veteran of the department, was fired in August and indicted on 24 counts earlier this month.

According to Harvard city officials, Held, 33, of Poplar Grove, called in sick when he wasn’t ill and provided fraudulent doctors’ notes.

The indictment alleges Held turned in the false or altered notes almost monthly beginning November 2011.
