Passenger numbers climb at Rockford airport
ROCKFORD, Ill. — Passenger numbers continue to climb at the Rockford airport, which recorded its busiest September on record for passenger traffic.
The Chicago Rockford International Airport had more than 13,000 passengers last month. That's a 52 percent increase over figures for September 2011.
Airport Director Mike Dunn said the jump was thanks to new service to Denver and strong traffic to Tampa-St. Petersburg in Florida. Flights carrying the European Ryder Cup team also helped boost the numbers.
