Metra Train kills pedestrian in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE – A Union Pacific Metra train struck and killed a pedestrian east of Pingree Road on Saturday, delaying the train more than 90 minutes.

Metra spokesman Tom Miller said the outbound train had 22 people on board at the time of the incident.

The train left from Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago and was scheduled to reach Crystal Lake at 2:55 p.m.

Two other trains behind it also were delayed, Miller said.
