Issue of inequality

To the Editor:

During this election season, candidates asking to become McHenry County Board members have an unusual opportunity to gain voter support without spending any county dollars. An issue of inequality of services provided by McHenry Township from the funds they collect through the township road and bridge tax can be completely eliminated, if only 16 newly elected board members vote to utilize an existing state of Illinois statute to grandfather homeowner associations whose roads the county initially platted before the current, more restrictive road construction standard went into effect.

Mary Margaret Maule and John Hammerand are two candidates who have committed their votes to end this injustice. If you live in one of the 72 affected subdivisions, I strongly encourage you to support these candidates with your vote.
