White Sox's Dunn named comeback player of the year

CHICAGO (AP) — The Sporting News has named White Sox first baseman Adam Dunn its American League Comeback Player of the Year.

The honor comes after Dunn rebounded from one of the worst statistical seasons in Major League history during 2011 to hit 41 home runs and drive in 96 runs. It was announced Tuesday.

Dunn only hit .204, but that was more than 40 points higher than his 2011 average. He totaled 30 homers more than he did that season and drove in more than twice as many runs.
