Fox Lake puts liquor licenses on the shelf

FOX LAKE – Fox Lake temporarily has stopped issuing liquor licenses as trustees tackle issues related to the village’s video gaming ordinance.

The village was approached by a couple of businesses that intend to make the gaming machines the center of their business plan, Village President Ed Bender said.

Until the board decides how to handle such requests, which don’t fit the ordinance’s current language, trustees are pressing the pause button. Video gaming licenses are easily approved for restaurants and bars that hold a liquor license. So the board Tuesday capped the number of liquor licenses.
