Jury selection continues in Sheley murder trial

MORRISON – Two more jurors have been selected for the second trial of a man accused in the 2008 killing of eight people in Illinois and Missouri.

With the selection Tuesday of a man and woman, six people have been chosen to hear the trial of Nicholas Sheley. Jury selection continues Wednesday.

The (Sterling) Daily Gazette reports defense attorney Jeremy Karlin used all seven of his peremptory challenges, which allow attorneys to dismiss a potential juror without cause. Judge F. Michael Meersman denied Karlin's request for more challenges. Karlin cited media coverage in his request.
