To the Editor:
I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to attend and listen to the debate on the upcoming referendum on McHenry County Board government.
Thank you to Rep. Jack Franks and Rep. Mike Tryon for their participation. At debate’s end, I drew the conclusion that our current form of county government provides the necessary accountability to voters. Therefore, I will vote “no” to the proposed change outlined in the referendum.
No matter how you cut it, unless the county executive form of government replaces the County Board in its entirety, you are just adding another layer of government. One plus one still adds up to two. This is not advantageous to the voters of McHenry County. Please vote “no” on Nov. 6.
