Huntley outdoes itself in construction
HUNTLEY – The village saw roughly $15 million more poured into residential and commercial construction this year than in 2011, officials said – a strong community investment seldom seen in slow economic times.
Based on construction permits, Huntley officials estimate the total value of construction in village limits this year at $41 million, far above the $26.1 million of last year. The larger investment is mainly tied to the new Deerpath Supportive Living Center and expansion of the Talamore subdivision, Village Manager Dave Johnson said.
“It shows that Huntley is as healthy as it can be in this economy,” Johnson said. “People are still looking to invest into our community and still looking to move here. Those numbers clearly indicate that.”
