AARP safe driver program offered in Harvard
HARVARD – Harvard Savings Bank and the Harvard Diggins Library will co-sponsor the AARP Driver Safety Program with the American Association of Retired Persons.
The AARP Driver Safety Program was developed by AARP in 1979. This driver refresher course is designed to meet the needs of older drivers.
It covers issues such as age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time, as well as defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road.
The program will be from 12:15 to 4:15 p.m. Nov. 5 and 6 at the Harvard Diggins Library, 900 E. McKinley
This year, the AARP will offer this course free to military veterans and their families.
AARP charges $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.
Seniors who successfully complete the course are eligible for a 10 percent reduction in automobile insurance premiums.
Registration is required. Space is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Refreshments will be served; participants are welcome to bring their own sack lunch.
Checks should be made payable to AARP and can be mailed to Harvard Savings Bank, Attn: Cindy, 58 N. Ayer St., Harvard, IL
