Citizens Utility Board to give away free bulbs at Green Living Expo

CRYSTAL LAKE – The Citizens Utility Board will give Crystal Lake consumers free money-saving light bulbs and tips to cut their energy bills at the Green Living Expo 2012. It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14.

At noon, CUB will give a 10-minute presentation on CUBenergysaver.com, a free online tool with hundreds of simple and affordable actions consumers can take to cut their energy bills. The service shows people how to save an average of $108 a year.

CUB also will give an update on Crystal Lake’s “municipal aggregation” program and how much it is saving electric customers. Residents currently are paying 4.69 cents per kilowatt-hour through July 2014 with FirstEnergy Solutions.
