Early Childhood Educators’ Conference set at MCC

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College will host the Early Childhood Educators’ Conference from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10  in the Luecht Conference Center at MCC, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

This conference is McHenry County’s leading event on benchmarking early childhood best practices and will feature children’s performer Tom Pease as keynote speaker and workshop presenter.

Pease will give participants practical tools through song, movement and humor to reinforce children’s sense of fun and play, their sense of community and sense of hope. Woven through each of his appearances are themes of respect for one another and the world, the importance of community and the power of laughing together.

Pease started singing with children when he taught environmental education for three years in California.

He moved to Wisconsin to teach part time and learn animal husbandry, carpentry and masonry skills.

After a few years of working with his hands, he began to miss working with children.

He has been performing full time since 1982, presenting more than 200 programs a year. He resides in rural Amherst, Wis., with his wife, Louise, and their two sons.

Sponsored by MCC’s Workforce and Community Development Division, the Early Childhood Educators’ Conference provides information and training for early childhood professionals.

The cost is $35 for general admission and $20 for MCC early childhood education students.
