Ex-Chicago policeman gets 18 months for extortion
CHICAGO – A former Chicago police officer who extorted protection payoffs from drug dealers has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.
Kallatt Mohammed pleaded guilty in August to stealing about $5,000 from an FBI informant posing as a drug courier.
At his sentencing Friday, Mohammed apologized and told the judge he was following orders from a superior, who is also charged in the case.
