County commissioner proposes gun violence plan
CHICAGO – A Cook County commissioner has a new proposal to reduce gun violence without taxing firearm and ammunition purchases.
In a statement Saturday, Commissioner John Fritchey said his plan would create a gun court to expedite the prosecution of people charged with gun crimes.
It also would provide $1 million in grants to organizations aimed at preventing violence and getting youth involved in positive activities.
