Man accused of shooting 2 at motorcycle club

LIBERTY, Ill. — A western Illinois man is charged with attempted murder after authorities allege he shot two people at a motorcycle club.

Prosecutors in Adams County also have charged 41-year-old Michael Gomez of Quincy with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery.

Gomez is accused of shooting two men before dawn Saturday at the Midwest Percenters Clubhouse in Liberty.

Sheriff Brent Fischer tells The Quincy Herald-Whig that the victims were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.

It isn't immediately clear what prompted the shooting.

Gomez couldn't be reached for comment Monday. Online court records don't show whether Gomez has an attorney, and he has an unlisted home telephone number.
