Retiring Fire Chief Jim Saletta was greeted with praise and recognition by the Huntley Village Board last week for his 11-tenure tenure with the Huntley Fire Protection District.
Mayor Chuck Sass presented Saletta with a plaque and commended Saletta for leading the district during a time of rapid growth in Huntley. Saletta oversaw the construction of the district's fourth fire station and helped the district gain national accreditation.
"He came here from a long career in Elgin, and took the Huntley fire department to the next step," Sass said
Saletta's last day is Saturday. Deputy Fire Chief Ken Caudle has been named as Saletta's replacement. After being recognized, Saletta thanked Sass and the trustees for their own work with the village.
"The village also excelled in making progress in our community. My compliments to you," Saletta said. "As a fire chief, I truly appreciate the fact that we got accreditation on a national level, as did your police department. As a citizen, it makes me very proud to live here."
