Police: Hampshire motorist crashed into ditch

HEBRON – Charges have been filed against a Hampshire man flown to the hospital Monday afternoon after driving his car into a ditch, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Harold E. Wiese Jr., 45, has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs, improper lane use, and driving without insurance.

Wiese was driving south on Route 47 near Vanderkarr Road in Hebron at around 2:15 p.m. Monday when he drove off the roadway into a ditch for unknown reasons, according to a news release. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.

Wiese was later transported to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock before being flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with head trauma.

He was listed in stable condition Monday night, the news release states.

The investigation is ongoing.
