Rakow Road project ceremony held today
CRYSTAL LAKE – County officals rededicated Rakow Road back to motorists and business-owners Tuesday, as transportation engineers eye the home stretch.
Construction on the $37 million, three-mile widening project, should be completed by Nov. 30.
The finishing touches, including asphalt paving, traffic signal installation, final landscaping and pavement marking will continue along Rakow and side streets.
Named after longtime County Engineer, Jim Rakow, his wife, McHenry County Recorder Phyllis Walters, was among the speakers at the event this morning.
"I believe he ... is looking down smiling, and saying, 'you got it done,' " Walters said.
