Springfield-style politics
To the Editor:
The election of a county executive doesn’t lead to better government. It leads to bigger government and bigger politics. The referendum doesn’t allow voters to elect a County Board chairman or eliminate the position of County Board chairman.
If approved, you’ll still have a County Board chairman elected from within. But you’ll also have an entire new layer of executive government with true executive powers.
