WAUKEGAN – An Algonquin social worker faces battery charges after inappropriately touching a student at the special needs school he worked at, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

John Gulino, 60, was charged Tuesday with three misdemeanor counts of battery following an almost two-week long investigation into an incident at Cyd Lash Academy in unincorporated Grayslake.

Gulino had been on administrative leave from the school that is part of the Special Education District of Lake County since the student reported the incident to administrators Oct. 18, according to a news release.
