Cl man arrested in CVS robbery

CRYSTAL LAKE – A 29-year-old Crystal Lake man has been arrested in the armed robbery of a CVS pharmacy.

Eric S. Sorenson, of 198 Lake Court, was arrested Wednesday in the robbery two months ago at 1305 Randall Road.

Three bottles of Oxycodone, a strong painkiller, were taken at gunpoint Sept. 2, Crystal Lake police said.

The robber wore a mask, approached a pharmacist and displayed a handgun and note that demanded the narcotic, police said.

Sorenson was charged with one count of armed robbery, a Class X felony, and theft over $500, a Class 3 felony.

Police allege the semiautomatic handgun belonged to his father.

Police arrested Sorenson at his home. Because they were concerned about weapons, police called for the department’s Emergency Services Team, which assisted in the arrest.

Sorenson was taken to the McHenry County Jail, and bond was set at $100,000.

Assisting in the investigation were the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the McHenry County State’s Attorney Office.

Sorenson’s next court date is Nov. 28.
