Johnsburg adds land for potential paths

JOHNSBURG – The village of Johnsburg will double its plot along Dutch Creek, leaving open the possibility of bike and walking paths in the area.

The Johnsburg Village Board gave village staff the thumbs up at its Thursday meeting to move ahead with acquiring the 17.8 acres located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Riverside Drive and Johnsburg Road.

In exchange for donating the vacant land, the village will reimburse the owner, Dorothy Hughes, a third of this year’s property taxes and cover next year’s property taxes for a total cost of about $5,000, Village Administrator Claudett Peters said.
