CRYSTAL LAKE – The parking lot for one of McHenry County College’s main buildings will be restricted when emergency work to repair a sanitary sewer line begins Monday.

The college experienced a sewer backup in the men’s bathroom in Building B near the commons area last month. A contractor video scoped the sewer line and discovered the 30-year-old, 8-inch pipe was underwater beneath the Building B parking lot.

“There is a great sense of urgency to perform this repair before 1) winter arrives 2) asphalt companies close for the season in November and 3) the opening of the new production kitchen and culinary lab,” President Vicky Smith wrote in a memo to board members.
