Coroner: Alcohol suspected in NIU student's death

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Alcohol might have played a role in the death of a Northern Illinois University student who was found dead at a fraternity house.

DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller says there was evidence that alcohol had been consumed at the Pi Kappa Alpha house.

Police officers responded to the house Friday morning after 19-year-old David Bogenberger was found unresponsive in a bed.

He was pronounced dead a half hour later.

Miller says there were no signs of trauma or foul play. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.

The student lived in a dormitory on campus and was not a resident at the fraternity.

University spokesman Brad Hoey also says that, based on interviews with other students, officials believe alcohol might have been a factor.
