Cooler, wetter weather in Illinois during October

CHAMPAIGN – Illinois climate experts say the state saw a wetter and cooler than normal October.

Illinois State Climatologist Jim Angel says the statewide temperature was 52.2 degrees during October. That's nearly 2 degree below normal. Angel says temperatures in much of Illinois dropped to freezing.

The average precipitation during October was nearly 4 inches. Angel says that's 0.7 inches above normal with the wettest areas between Quincy and Champaign. Precipitation totals there ranged between 4 and 7 inches.
