VOICE begins sexual assault support groups

WOODSTOCK – Survivors of sexual assault often feel as though they are alone in dealing with the aftereffects of the crime. Finding someone to understand may seem impossible.

That’s why VOICE Sexual Assault Services, a program of Pioneer Center for Human Services, created a Sexual Assault Survivor Support Group and a Significant Other Support Group. The group meets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at the VOICE Sexual Assault Services Office at 109 S. Jefferson St., Woodstock.

Participants will join other survivors, learn to share stories and begin the healing process.

The Significant Other Support Group meets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the office in Woodstock. Family and friends learn how to provide the support needed to begin the healing process.

For information or to join either group, call 815-759-7055.

VOICE is the only Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault-certified program in McHenry County. It also provides 24/7 crisis intervention that is free and confidential. It doesn’t matter if the assault was recent or occurred 25 years ago; it is never too late to reach out for help.
