‘Blithe Spirit’ a must-see

To the Editor:

As someone who is not only a theater junkie but also a lover of ghost stories, I was excited when I learned a local theater group was performing “Blithe Spirit” at the Woodstock Opera House.

I was curious to see what a small-town group would do with Noel Coward’s masterpiece, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised!

The TownSquare Players have a fantastic show on their hands, folks. Katelin Stack is positively enchanting as the ghostly Elvira, and Beth Quigley is hilarious as the eccentric medium, Madame Arcati.

I would be remiss if I didn’t make a special mention, however, of Scott Niedl and Carrie MacDonald as the stars of the show, playing Charles and Ruth Condomine. Niedl offers just the right amount of pomposity without it being overbearing, and the stunning MacDonald offers charm and wit, often moreso in what she doesn’t say on stage than what she does! And their chemistry is pure magic.

I usually head to the city for my theater fixes, and this was my first time seeing a TownSquare Players production. I can guarantee you that I will be back for more shows in the future.

“Blithe Spirit” is, without a doubt, a must-see.
