D-300 submits final offer to union
CARPENTERSVILLE – A "disappointed" District 300 school board forwarded its final contract offer to the district's union today, a news release states, two days after the union officially declared an impasse in negotiations.
General items included in the final offer addressed elementary class sizes, teacher load and high school schedule, along with proposals on salary, insurance and retirement benefits. The district and its teacher union, LEAD 300, have been at odds for months over how to reduce class sizes and adequately pay for it.
Board members said in the release that they were disappointed LEAD 300 called an impasse, arguing that both sides were making significant progress to improve the teachers' working environment.
