Dundee-Crown students to honor veterans

CARPENTERSVILLE – Dundee-Crown High School will celebrate Veterans Day on Monday with veterans who served in Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan.

The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 1500 Kings Road, Carpentersville.

As veterans, students and teachers turn onto Charger Country Drive, they will be greeted with American flags lining the street. When entering the school, the veterans will be met by the drum line and color guard playing and waving American flags.

Each veteran will be paired with a Dundee-Crown social studies teacher and spend the day sharing their experiences and answering students’ questions. During the first five minutes of third period, members of the Dundee-Crown choir will sing the national anthem. At the end of the day, trumpet players from the marching band will play taps in honor of the men and women who have died defending the country.
