CRYSTAL LAKE – Community members are invited to the movie “Food, Inc.,” presented by Phi Theta Kappa student honor society Friday in the Luecht Conference Center at McHenry County College.
Healthy refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the movie begins at 7 p.m. at the college, 8900 Route 14.
In “Food, Inc.,” filmmaker Robert Kenner explores where the food we buy in grocery stores really comes from, and what it means for the health of future generations.
The film features interviews of “Fast Food Nation” author Eric Schlossser, “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” author Michael Pollan and other social entrepreneurs, including Stonyfield Farms’ Gary Hirschberg, who reveal surprising truths about what we eat and how it’s produced.
A discussion with MCC faculty and Phi Theta Kappa students will follow the 120-minute movie.
The event is free and open to the public.
