Next Cary clerk to get a pay raise

CARY – The person elected village clerk next year will be paid $50 a meeting – an increase over the current fixed pay of $1,500 a year, the Village Board decided Tuesday.

The pay rate goes into effect in May after the April elections and bases compensation for the village clerk on the number of meetings the clerk must attend. It means the next clerk will earn $2,400 to $3,600 a year, depending on the number of meetings, rather than the fixed $1,500 a year.

Consecutive meetings on the same day will be considered one meeting under the ordinance adopted Tuesday.
